3. Ram and ram operating mechanism. The ram shall be of the rack and pinion type, and shall have a ratchet and pawl between the lever and pinion type. The leverage ratio shall be of the manufacturer’s standard ratio offered to the commercial market for the size specified.
4. Radius of work. The radius of work is defined as the distance from the center of the ram to the frame. Unless otherwise specified (see ordering data), the radius of work to the press to be furnished shall be selected from table I. The tolerance of the radius of work shall be ± 0.5 inch.

5. Vertical capacity. The vertical capacity is defined as the distance when measured from the top of table surface to ram (ram up). The vertical capacity for the press to be furnished shall be as specified and selected from table II. The tolerance of the vertical capacity shall be ± 1 inch.

Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of FED-STD-376, and all other requirements of this commercial item description are met.
